Terms of Use

LocalPdfCompress is a free browser tool that rewrites PDF files on your device. It is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. Results are for practical use. Check the PDF yourself before you share it, print it, or file it. These terms are the rules for using the site. They are not legal advice, tax advice, or a support contract.

Using the site

You may use the PDF compressor for personal or commercial work with PDFs you own or are allowed to use. Do not try to disrupt the site, break the static hosting, or probe it as if it stored user files. It does not. There is no account to attack and no document bucket to scrape.

You are responsible for the files you select. We do not review them, host them, or grant you rights in them. Do not process documents you are not allowed to handle. A local rewrite does not make a copied PDF lawful. Redact secrets yourself before you drop a packet; the tool does not redact.

Your documents and the PDF you download

Processing happens in your browser. We do not receive the files and we cannot restore them if you close the tab or lose the download. Keep your own copy if you need it later. Renaming the download is your job.

The result is a new page-copy document. It is not a certified archive, not an OCR transcript, and not a signed document. Digital signatures, bookmarks, forms, and accessibility tags are not guaranteed to survive. Structural rewrite may shrink, stay flat, or grow — compare sizes and keep the smaller file. Guides: compress without upload, reduce file size, limits. How to verify that processing does not upload is on trust.

Limits and out-of-scope features

LocalPdfCompress does not claim OCR accuracy, e-sign validity, password cracking, DRM bypass, certified redaction, legal advice, e-discovery readiness, or regulatory compliance (including any 等保 certification). Browser memory and CPU limit file size and page count. Soft guidance is about 25 MiB per file. A device can fail under those numbers. Word, images, and remote URL fetch are out of scope. Image downsampling, merge/split-as-hero, and OCR are out of scope for v1. We do not promise a specific attachment size for your mail host.

The site is a pages.dev experiment. Pages can change, and the experiment can go away. There is no service-level agreement and no paid tier hiding behind the free tool. This version does not run advertising scripts.

The software in the page

Page copy uses pdf-lib under its MIT license, in your browser. That license covers the library. It does not give you rights in the documents you process, and it does not make us the author of your PDF. Site text, layout, and branding on localpdfcompress.pages.dev remain ours to publish and update. Your documents remain yours.

Email size and ZIP expectations

We do not promise that a rewritten PDF will meet a particular mail-host size limit. We do not ship a ZIP builder on this site. Choosing ZIP elsewhere, or choosing structural rewrite here, remains your decision. Growth after rewrite is an allowed outcome; keep the smaller file. Password-protected PDFs may be rejected — that is not a license to bypass DRM.

Disclaimer

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for lost files, unreadable PDFs, missing signatures or bookmarks, mail rejections, printing surprises, larger-than-original rewrites, or decisions you make from a page-copy PDF. The tool runs on your device with the memory and browser you bring. If the tab fails, use a smaller file. Contact for factual corrections is contact@localpdfcompress.pages.dev; that mailbox is not an emergency recover service.

Changes

We may update these terms by changing this page. Continued use after the page changes means you accept the update. If that is not acceptable, stop using the site. How the files are handled is also described in the privacy policy, on about, and on trust.
